AUTUMN

The Autumn Term at Fairholme is always busy and tiring! Children are learning new routines, rules, making new friends and staying all day at school.  We have a variety of creative events to enjoy. Children have settled in well and are getting used to their new classes and are excited to learn new things. They are all embracing the challenges we set for them and we are looking forward to the run up to Christmas. We have lots of exciting things planned for the festive season!

We will start Phase 2 of our phonics this week so please come to the meeting on Tues 31st Oct at 2.45pm to learn about how you can help your child at home. We will also learn about Maths and you will receive a FREE gift too!

Children have had their hearing checked so please keep an eye out for any additional information about your child's hearing. If you have any questions regarding this please speak to your class teacher.

We have started focus children and this is going well with positive feedback from parents. Please make sure you return the focus child information sheet and email some photos so that we can get the best out of your child's week.

We have started cooking this week so please remember to pay for cooking on Parent Pay so that we are able to fund the ingredients.

Junk Modelling: As you have seen the children are never leaving empty handed at the end of the day as they are always busy being creative and imaginative. We are always on the hunt for recycling so please feel free to bring any in e.g. boxes, bottles, plastic containers or trays, tubes, paper rolls and lids.

Wood Work: Reception has started wood work, but we need more wood. If you have any off cuts we could use at school please give to your class teacher.

Gardening: We are lucky enough to have a poly tunnel, however it needs some TLC. If anyone is a keen gardener and would like to help out and grow some veg please get in touch.

If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with us then please do drop into the office to make an appointment to see us, we are more than happy to meet with you to discuss any issues.

We have been very happy to see so many of the children wearing their full correct school uniform and setting such a brilliant example for the rest of the school, thank you.

We encourage all children to bring a water bottle to class, which they can refill at regular intervals during the day in order to keep themselves well hydrated and to keep their brains working to the best of their ability.

Phonics: The children are really enthusiastic  about phonics and we have been seeing some amazing progress from the children in learning time.  We are even beginning to see some children  on reading books.

We would like to thank the parents who have been providing support at home by practising their phonics book. It is very beneficial to your child's learning to practice at home and just a reminder to  always send your child to school everyday with their phonics book.

Children should be encouraged to share books at home with an adult regularly to encourage enjoyment and enthusiasm for reading.

Teachers are always eager to hear your child's achievements , please share  these on our contributions slips. These are located outside each classroom.
