Home learning

We know that children achieve well when they are supported with their learning at home.  We encourage our families to broaden their children's education by taking them out on trips and visits to museums, galleries, parks, sporting activities, and so on.  Reading with your child every day is essential to improve decoding (word reading) and comprehension skills as well as to develop a love of literature.

We set homework for our children each week, and expect all children to complete this.  Homework will usually include some maths and literacy work, plus something linked to the current topic that the class are studying.  Children are given a homework book in which to complete their homework each week.  Homework will be given out on a Friday and must be handed in (in the homework book) on a Tuesday – this is the same for all year groups.  We also run a homework club for children who have difficulty completing the work that has been set at home.
