We are a GOOD School!
I am so pleased to be able to share with the world that Fairholme School has been rated ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED following our recent inspection in December 2014.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the children, staff, parents and governors who work tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes for all. Please do take the time to read the full report; here are a few of the highlights!
“Pupils behaviour is good. They are polite and courteous. Pupils behave well in lessons . .“
“Teaching across the school overtime is good. Classrooms and corridors are welcoming. Displays in classrooms are linked to the learning. Teachers have good subject knowledge and use a wide range of resources, including information and communication technology, to enhance pupils’ learning. Teachers are enthusiastic and have high expectations.”
“Pupils achievement is good. Their attainment and progress by the end of year 6 is above the national average in reading, writing and mathematics. In 2014, achievement in writing was significantly above the national average. Pupils apply their literacy and numeracy skills well across different subjects, thus they are well prepared for secondary school.”
“The headteacher is passionate about pupils’ progress and has strong drive and ambition. She has implemented a number of changes across the school. As a result, the quality of teaching and learning has improved. This has had a positive impact on pupils’ achievement and good behaviour. Governors are effective and passionate about continually driving the school forward.”
“Children have good relationships with adults. They get on well with each other so they play and learn in a harmonious atmosphere. The school has clear systems to ensure children’s safety.”
I am so proud of what we have achieved in the short time since I became the Headteacher at Fairholme School and I look forward to our journey to becoming outstanding.
