Why not become a writer in your own right and have a go at some of these writing activities!?

How many different ways can you use the word in different sentences? Why not have a sentence battle with your family - who can create the most sentences using the Word of the Day correctly?

Writing Challenge - Probably most suitable for Year 3/4

 Watch the video 'Taking Flight' (below) and then choose which of these writing tasks you would like to have a go at - you could do more than one if you wanted to.

Task 1 - Imagine that you are the little boy, Tony, in the film 'Taking Flight.' Write the diary entry he might have written after his day with Grandad - remember to include how he felt about the adventures that took place.

Task 2Create a comic strip to show the adventures that Grandad and Tony go on together. Remember, you can use speech bubbles to show when characters are talking to one another, here's an example. Have a look below for ideas about how to layout your comic.

Task 3 - In the film, we don't see the alien that Tony and Grandad meet. Use your imagination, to draw a picture of the alien and write the dialogue/conversation that they have together - remember to try to use correct speech punctuation.Recap how to use speech punctuation here.

Task 1Write the next adventure of 'Spy Fox' using a different wild animal as the villain and including equally useless minions. For help with creating your story, top up your knowledge here.

Task 2 - Write a newspaper report explaining the events of the incident. Recap the features of a newspaper report here. For top tips on newspaper writing, check out this link

Task 3 - Design a spy gadget that fox could use in his missions - why not create a 'double page spread'. Draw and label it, then explain how it could be used and give an example of when it has helped other spies on their missions.
