Please remember to come dressed as a Superhero on Monday 9th September. If you do not have a costume you could make a mask, or come as a real life Superhero e.g. a fire fighter or doctor.
Who's your favourite superhero? Wonder woman? Spiderman? Maybe your heroes are ordinary people who have achieved great things? Or is it the people who save lives in our emergency services that you admire most?
In this topic we will be writing descriptive sentences and comic strips. We will learn about our senses and eating healthily, as well as historical superheroes such as Florence Nightingale.
So join us for an action packed half term!
We have three classes in Year 1:

We have been very happy to see so many of the children wearing their full correct school uniform and setting such a brilliant example for the rest of the school, thank you.
Can you please ensure your child has their PE kit in school everyday.
Please ensure these are named.
PE will be on Wednesdays.
We encourage all children to bring a water bottle to class, which they can refill at regular intervals during the day in order to keep themselves well hydrated. Please could you make sure that water bottles are labelled clearly with your child's full name.
In Year 1 reading at home is vitally important for the children.
We expect the children to read out loud to an adult at least 5 times a week at home. Please sign or initial in the homework diary to confirm that this has been completed. Please remember that you have access to a wealth of Bug Club books to support this.
Choose 5-10 spellings from the list in the homework diary to practise each week. Should you require further words please speak to your child's class teacher.
Maths passports (Stage 1) are located in the homework diary-please practise a couple of the skills each week.
Children should have their homework folders in school every day. Homework diaries will be checked in school on Fridays.
Please remember to use My Maths at home to support your child's learning. Tasks will be set by teachers when appropriate to reinforce learning. General number activities can be accessed at any point.
Remember that as the weather gets chillier to ensure that children have appropriate clothing to work, and play outside.
