In the Spring Term at Fairholme children are learning about Bears and People that help us. We will have some visitors to talk about how they help us. Children will also start PE this half term, so will need a PE kit in school each week.
We will start our second round of focus children this half term to provide parents with an update of their childs development. Please make sure you return the focus child information sheet and email some photos so that we can get the best out of your child's week.
We have started cooking so please remember to pay for cooking on Parent Pay so that we are able to fund the ingredients. If you or a relative would like to come in and do some cooking with the children then please speak to your child's class teacher.
Phonics will continue this term and we will move on to diagraphs and trigraphs. Your child will also get a reading book that matches their phonic level. Please practise their sounds and reading every day.
Junk Modelling: As you have seen the children are never leaving empty handed at the end of the day as they are always busy being creative and imaginative. We are always on the hunt for recycling so please feel free to bring any in e.g. boxes, bottles, plastic containers or trays, tubes, paper rolls and lids.
Wood Work: Reception has started wood work, but we need more wood, corks, bottle tops, etc. If you have any of these things that we could use at school please give to your class teacher.
Gardening: We are lucky enough to have a poly tunnel, however it needs some TLC. If anyone is a keen gardener and would like to help out and grow some veg please get in touch.
We have two classes in Reception:
The children will be supported by all staff in the setting. However each child will have a Class teacher and Early Years Practitioner (EYP) that will be responsible for them.
Mrs Kamara is the Year Group Leader
Lilac Class: Mrs Kamara & Mrs Wolanin
Yellow Class: Miss Carvalho & Miss Wilson

If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with us then please do drop into the office to make an appointment to see us, we are more than happy to meet with you to discuss any issues. Also we would love to hear what we are doing well at, drop us a note or verbally tell your child's class teacher.
We have been very happy to see so many of the children wearing their full correct school uniform and setting such a brilliant example for the rest of the school, thank you.
We encourage all children to bring a water bottle to class, which they can refill at regular intervals during the day in order to keep themselves well hydrated and to keep their brains working to the best of their ability.
Phonics: The children are really enthusiastic about phonics and we are seeing some amazing progress from the children in learning time. We are even beginning to see some children writing sentences and reading books. Well done!
We would like to thank the parents who have been providing support at home by reading with their child. It is very beneficial to your child's learning to practice at home and just a reminder to always send your child to school everyday with their reading folder.
Children should be encouraged to share books at home with an adult regularly to encourage enjoyment and enthusiasm for reading.
Teachers are always eager to hear your child's achievements , please share these with the class teacher.
