PE lessons take place on Wednesdays for Year 2 children. Please come to school dressed in school PE uniform on Wednesdays.
Please ensure your child brings a drink bottle to school with them every day - this should contain water or diluted fruit squash. Your child will be able to refill their bottle during the school day from our special water coolers to keep themselves hydrated. Children may also bring a healthy snack to eat at playtime. Please do not allow your child to bring any toys, games or other items into school from home.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child and their learning, please do drop into the school office to make an appointment as we are always happy to meet with you.
Home learning
Homework helps to reinforce the learning that has gone on in school during the week. Immersing your child in reading is the most important thing. Children should read at home with an adult at least 5 times a week and this should be recorded in your child's home learning journal. There is also a space to learn spellings, practice maths and information is provided about half-termly projects to be completed at home. You can find out more about our homework expectations here. Children are expected to bring their home learning journal and school reading books to school every day.
Online learning resources
We subscribe to various websites which you can use at home to support your child's learning. Your child's teacher will be able to provide you with the necessary log in details, and these should be stuck in your child's home learning journal. Click on the links below to access the resources.
Westward Ho!
Welcome to an exciting half-term adventure in Year 2! Our topic, "Westward Ho!", will transport your young explorers into a fascinating world of landforms, geography and exploration. Over the next few weeks, we will set sail on a learning journey to discover different types of land and vast oceans. Our Year 2 children will develop a deeper understanding of the world's diverse landscapes and the brave explorers who have ventured into the unknown. "Westward Ho!" promises to ignite their curiosity, nurture their sense of wonder, and encourage them to become courageous explorers of knowledge. So, prepare to hoist the anchor and embark on this thrilling educational voyage with us!
London's Burning
This half term, we embark on a historical journey through the heart of London's past as we delve into the interesting topic 'London's Burning'. This pivotal event, changed the city's landscape and left a mark on it's history. Through our exploration, we will learn what caused the fire, how it progressed and what happened after. We will learn about the fire fighting methods of the past and how it has evolved since. We will learn stories about human resilience, rebuilding, and the enduring spirit of Londoners in then face of adversity.
Our half term project for this half term is:
- Make a collage to depict the Great Fire of London
- Imagine you were living in London in 1666. Write a diary entry about the Great Fire of London.
